The UC-97 is a UC-90 class, type UCIII, minelaying submarine of 491 tons surfaced and 571 tons submerged. 184 1/4 foot long, 18 3/4 foot beam, with a 12 1/2 foot draft. She went 11.5 knots on the surface and 6.6 knots submerged. She was designed to clandestinely mine the harbors of her enemies. She brought 3 20" torpedo tubes to bear and 6 mine laying tubes. She had a crew of 32 officers and men. |
