| GUTTER QUEENS - BORN TO BE CHEAP DEMO Formed in Switzerland in 1992 the Gutter Queens featuring Zygi The Wild One, Calmo Sideburn, Jim Juvenile, Sarah Mephista Memphis and Elvira Tarantella are actually dead good and are the future of Glam Rock. The band mix Glam with Punk, it's all good fun and the songs are played with full on energy such as *Little Suzy*, *Fire* and *Brown Waves*, check out Elvira's pounding drum attacks. Jim Juvenile is the lead vocalist, and he conjures up an image that comes into view as a combination of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and the musical style of the Spider Rockets, D'Molls, the Wildhearts and Sea Hags. With a fuller production sound the Gutter Queens could become very popular indeed. Rating: 7/10 July 2000 (UK) |
