Dion Vaughan– Chief Executive Officer

Dion joined Metalysis in July 2013 to drive forward the scale-up and the commercialization of tantalum and titanium production.

Dion is a metallurgist and has worked across the metals, mining and investment sectors for over 20 years, bringing his experience from industry and corporate finance. He joins Metalysis from Hatch Corporate Finance.  Previously, his career has included positions in Sheffield Forgemasters, Johnson Matthey and BP Research.  As a corporate financier he has worked also for JP Morgan Chase Manhattan and Robert Fleming where he worked on a wide variety of mergers & acquisitions, debt and equity capital raises, privatisations and strategic advisory assignments.

Dion has awarded a PhD in Material Science from Queen Mary University of London.

Tony Pedder – Non-Executive Chairman

Tony has over thirty years experience in the metals industry. He is a past Chief Executive of Corus and the current Chairman of Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd, a leading producer of heavy cast and forged steel products for the oil and gas, marine, aerospace, construction and heavy engineering sectors. Tony was appointed Non-Executive Chairman in January 2012.

Pelham Hawker – Non-Executive Director

Pelham joined the Board in 2009 and has extensive experience in commercialising technology in the Company’s target markets. More recently, as a main board director on Johnson Matthey plc, Pelham successfully reorganised two divisions of the business to achieve aggressive group financial goals through global sales. He has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol.

Jonathan Coppin – Non-Executive Director

Jonathan joined the Board in August 2009 after 20 years as an M&A lawyer in the City of London. He has been a partner at Norton Rose LLP, Shearman & Sterling LLP and Hogan and Hartson LLP, where he was head of UK Corporate, and has advised a number of the world's largest companies on their most important transactions.

Patrick Sheehan - Non-Executive Investor Director

Patrick is a Partner and founder of Environmental Technologies Fund, which is dedicated to investing in great growth companies with global aspirations that are making a big environmental impact.
Patrick has worked in venture capital since 1985, when he joined 3i. He was instrumental in founding 3i's venture capital practise and later become Managing Director of its Silicon Valley operation. Before this he was a research engineer for GEC and Marconi Space Systems.
Patrick Chairs the European Venture Capital Association's Environmental Task Force. He was also a member of the Executive Committee and Board of the EVCA from 2007 to 2010, during which time he chaired the Venture Capital Committee.
Patrick has a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from UCL, London.

Edward McCabe - Non-Executive Investor Director

Edward McCabe brings a wealth of experience from banking, investment management, and running a large corporate organisation as CEO and Chairman, in addition to co-founding several technology start-up companies.

John Townsend - Non-Executive Investor Director

John started his career as a financial analyst with broker Hoare Govett, covering the pharmaceutical industry. He subsequently moved on to investment and management roles in the investment industry. As a director of Warburg Investment Management (which became Mercury Asset Management plc), he turned round the US business, and then at Citibank Global Asset Management he again rebuilt an orphaned investment business within a bank. As a founder of Sagitta Asset Management Ltd, John led this wealth management start-up into alternative investments in the mid 1990s, namely private equity and hedge funds. Having exited Sagitta in 2000, John became CEO of Vesta Capital Partners, a venture firm focussed on financial services technology.
John received a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Manchester.

Gavin Rezos - Non-Executive Investor Director

BA, LLB, B.Juris, MAICD

Mr Rezos was appointed to the Board in June 2006.  He is a director of Metalysis Limited in which Iluka holds an 18.3 per cent interest. Mr Rezos has extensive Australian and international investment banking experience and is a former Investment Banking Director of the HSBC Group with regional roles during his HSBC career based in London, Sydney and Dubai. Mr Rezos has held chief executive positions and executive directorships of companies in the technology, energy and resources areas in the UK, US and Singapore and was formerly a director of Amity Oil NL (Antares). He is Chairman of Alexium International Group Limited, a principal of Viaticus Capital Pty Ltd and a director of Rowing Australia. Mr Rezos is a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.
