WARTHOG

HALO>VEHICLES>WARTHOG

  • Crew: 1 + 1 (+1 in rear)
  • Weight: 3.25 tons
  • Armament: 12.7mm three-barreled machine gun

The Warthog is an effective 2-3 man vehicle, if the enemy doesn't have a tank. One guy drives, one guy fires the chain gun on the rear, and an optional guy sits beside the driver and shoots. If you're driving the Warthog, and no gunner is on it with you, you're better off on foot with grenades.

  • My rating: 8 out of 10.
  • My opinion: this is great only for 2-3 players. Use is as a battering ram, or to run enemies over. The chain gun on the back is effective only at close-range. Watch out for the tank, it'll blast you in one shot.
In the computer version of Halo, and in Halo 2, there are 2 more kinds or Warthogs. There is an open back one, which has nothing on the back. It is also longer. There is also a rocket launching Warthog, which obviously shoots rockets like a rocket launcher. It also has the same firing rate, range, etc. of a rocket launcher.

    TACTICS

Ramp: you can use the Warthog as a ramp for a Ghost. Just back it up to where you want to go, get in the other vehicle, and build up speed. Then, run up the Warthog. You can even use 2 Warthogs as a ramp for a Scorpion Tank.
Warthog camping: park the Warthog where you can see where the enemy respawns, but not too close. Jump off, and get on the back gun. Take out whoever respawns. It's an easy way to get kills.
Turret sniping: jump on the rear of the Warthog, but don't press X to use the gun. Get out your sniper rifle, and snipe enemies from behind the Warthog's turret armour. If you see an enemy close, press X to use the chain gun, and take them out.

    COUNTERMOVES

Against a pedestrian: their move: throw grenades at you.
Your move: if you see a grenade, jump out, and when the explosion have occured, jump back in. Also, you should try taking out the enemy from afar. Against a Ghost: their move: the smart ones run, but some tend to gt behind you, and fire endlessly at the turret, therefore freezing it.
Your move: never let a Ghost behind you. If you're at the turret, look around.
Against a Warthog: their move: circling you to give their gunner the best angle.
Your move: see above, but do it better.
Against a Scorpion Tank: their move: shoot you with the big gun. You're a pretty easy target.
Your move: jump out, run for cover. Your turret is powerful, but it's no match for a tank's big gun.
