Communications device
Definition :
1.Hardware component that enables a computer to send (transmit) and receive data, instructions, and information to and from one or more computers; OR
2. A communications device is any type of hardware capable of transmitting data, instructions, and information between a sending device  and a receiving device.

cable modem, wireless modem, network cards, hubs & switches

Router

A device that connects multiple networks together; routes packets to their next location in order to efficiently reach their destination.
Switch

A device used to connect multiple devices on a single (typically wired) network; forward packets to only the intended recipient.
Wireless Access Point


A device on a network that connects wireless devices to that network.
Hub

The device that provides a common central connection point for nodes on network.
Network Interface Card (NIC)

An expansion cards through which a computer can connect to a network.
