April 2000 THE RIGHTEOUS READER your sweetened guide to the condensed world of righteous babe records and its never-saccharine leader, ani difranco april 2000 HEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE'S ANI! Catch Ani and the band on THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO, Friday April 21. You know the time, you know the channel, now get watchin'. THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMIN' Next up in record land is the long-awaited 'TIL WE OUTNUMBER 'EM, a live album on which the likes of Billy Bragg, Ani D, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Arlo Guthrie, Indigo Girls, David Pirner, and Bruce Springsteen play the songs of Woody Guthrie, with additional spoken passages by Tim Robbins and a whole bunch o' Woody friends and scholars. Profits benefit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum's educational foundation (the Hall of Fame sponsored the concert, by the way) and the Woody Guthrie Archives. In stores May 23, 2000; you can start placing advance orders online in early May. Around the same time or even sooner, be on the lookout for SWING SET, a brand-new EP containing the latest swingin' single from Ani's album TO THE TEETH, plus mucho previously unreleased material: a remix of TTT's title song and covers of classic tunes of political protest by Woody G (a live "Do Re Me," featuring Gillian Welch, David Rawlings, and Bo Ramsey), Bob Dylan ("Hurricane"), and Phil Ochs ("When I'm Gone," from the forthcoming film "Steal This Movie"). We don't have a release date yet, but it'll be real soon, promise. Completists out there will also want to track down Ani's one-song cameo singing and playing guitar on Maceo Parker's new album, DIAL M-A-C-E-O. It's available on What Are Records?, whose site is located at<www.war.com>.
