Ani Buy's Church? | ||||
Singer invests in church A recording company has offered to buy a landmark 130-year-old church in Buffalo, N.Y., to use as offices. Scott Fisher, president of Ani DiFranco's Righteous Babe Records, is on the board of the Preservation Coalition of Erie County. He lobbied Buffalo officials to prevent demolition of the vacant Asbury Delaware United Methodist Church when stones started to fall from the tower in the mid-1990s. Righteous Babe Records plans to make a $5,000 down payment; a sale price will be established later. DiFranco, whose latest album is "To the Teeth," has earned several Grammy nominations. |
