Power Amplifier on Soviet tube 6P45S. In 1990s this tube was very popular in Poland because it was used in Soviet TV sets like RUBIN and ELEKTRON (it had very big and colorfull CRT and needed strong driving). This tube can work up to 120W to 30 MHz! In capitalistic electronics never such powerfull elements were used in consumer electronics.
In 1997 I already worked on 600W PA on Soviet tube GU74B but for saving resource of this tube (theoretically 1000 hours) I constructed additional middle powered PA for local QSOs on 3 MHz (as I always called it instead 3.5 MHz what sounds illogical for me) and 14 MHz band. Output power is 80W on 3 MHz but thats because anode trafo is too small and anode voltage 600V dropping by some 10%... But thats practicall without difference as we talking about receiving signal level.
Probably thousands CW QSOs were made on this equipment both with whole fleet of QRP transmitters and with main transmitter which in 1990s was still TRX VOLNA, used only as transmitter because I used very big and sensitive Soviet tube receiver R-250M2 for receiving, with full QSK capability! I could hear every dot between my transmission even when working on big PA with GU74B tube. This capability was standard in maritime radiotelegraphy but not on amateur bands where it was rather rare! At least you need good operators who can work on QSK. I remember that during such QSK QSOs some other stations sends dash to check if I can hear it during my transmision and I always stopped my transmitting. For these guys QSK system was something new and strange while is was normal on maritime bands.
