Project Info

Acquired in our Chinese Comrades, cheap and good. Universal PCBs for uC are far not ideal if we talking about stray capacitances but there are good things like mobility (possibility of quick swapping uC module). Overall miniaturisation isn't so bad because additional components can be mounted beneath uC module. In result we have a kind of electronic multilayer "sandwich".

Decoupling capacitors

Decoupling capacitors always should be mounted on uC board. I'm using 2 methods for this:
1/ for low frequency uCs for example AVR with max. 20 MHz clock, 0603 SMD capacitors between goldpin connectors.
2/ for high frequency uCs for example ARM, 0402 SMD capacitors mounted on paths 5-6 mm from the uC. Prior to do this toner must be removed and element must be soldered at the angle (no room for straight position). This is naturally difficult operation as 0402 elements are 1 mm long with 0.2 mm solder terminals, but possible with some practise.
