Yo! I just got an idea in my head to do a fic about Hiei's mom, Hina. I don't know much, but I know that she was killed and Hiei was abandoned. I read that on someone's page, so I think that's right... Anyway, relax, stay cool, enjoy!
Oh yeah, and all disclaimers and that kind of stuff... This fanfic has YAOI, maybe some lime if I feel like it, so please don't scream at me for not warning you.

Hina Reborn

Hina's point of view

Hiei. That name kept ringing in my ears. My darling son, my darling baby boy. That night, when I gave birth to him and his sister Yukina, I thought that I would never see them again.

Flashback

"Push Hina! Your child is almost out! Push!" "WAAAAAAAAAAAH!" "WAAAAAAAHH!" "What? TWO children? A male child! HINA!" The other koorimes take Hina to the council, where they tell her that her son will be thrown off the koorime village, her daughter will be raised as the leader's own, and for violating the ancient code, her life will be sacrificed. The villagers take Hina to a spot overlooking a river. Hina places Hiei inside a basket with a pearl-gem, and throws him into the river. Hiei looks up and starts crying, and Hina feels a sharp pain in her back and sees no more.

End Flashback

Who would have thought that after all these years I would see my boy again? All I need to do now is find Yukina and my life will be complete...

Hiei's Dream

Hiei is in his mother's arms. She places him in a basket and pushes him off into the river. He looks up. There, on the river bank, another koorime takes a knife and stabs his mother. "Mother! Noooooo!" he cries, but since he was just a baby, he could not talk. There was nothing he could do except float down river...

"Ahh!" Hiei awoke with a cold sweat. He had this dream several times in the past, but not this vivid. He didn't know what to do. He decided it was best to talk to Kurama about it, since he didn't want to bother Yukina with his family problems. (You probably know why)

Yukina's thoughts

One day he will come. Hiei will bring my brother to me. I can't wait for that day. Hiei has promised this to me, and I know that he will keep his word. I have always wondered about Hiei's background, but each time I try to ask him he disappears in a whoosh of black. I know nothing about him, and yet he looks for my brother constantly. But there is something, something about him that makes me sad whenever I see him. Something in those red eyes that look so much like mine. Sometimes I can't help but think that he IS my brother, but is afraid to tell me. I guess if that was the truth, he's not telling me because he wouldn't want me to know about his horrible past. But I know. He's a liar and a murderer. Or should I say he WAS. Hiei is always so nice and gentle with me. He never would raise a hand to strike me, and always protects me. If he ever finds my brother, I want him to be just like Hiei. For now, Hiei will be my brother, if not in blood, at least in spirit.

The Meeting

Out in the park, Kurama walks down a shady path towards the woods. He is going to the little place that he and Hiei call their shelter. Theirs. Kurama hummed happily to himself as he thought of the little youkai. He was so cold, but so very, very hot. Just like his background. The fire demon born among the ice maidens. Kurama walked to the spot in the woods and sat down to wait.

Hiei suddenly jumped down from the trees in front of Kurama. "Hn. What took you?" Kurama just smiled and gave Hiei a big wet kiss. "I was just taking my time to smell the roses," Kurama joked as he started to tug at Hiei's cloak. "No. Not this time." Kurama looked at Hiei in surprise. "Why not?" "I have to tell you something. It's about this dream I've been having..."

After Hiei told Kurama about the dream, Kurama sat in deep thought. "Well," Kurama said after a long silence, "maybe your mother has been reborn."

"Reborn?"

"Yes. Reborn as a human, like me. That would be why you're getting all these dreams as vividly as you say you're getting them."

Hiei pondered this thought for a little bit. Kurama snuggled close to him. "Now can we have some fun?" Hiei 'humphed', but let Kurama have his way with him.

Kurama was right. Hina had been reborn as a human. Now she was a 14 year old girl. She had black hair and dark eyes, that only looked red when seen up close. She wore the same kimono that Yukina wore, except hers was black instead of light blue. She still had the same powers and speed as a koorime, except that she was now mortal and human. Hina had been sitting in the trees, watching the world go bye, but then she sensed a familiar ki. "Hiei?"

Kurama and Hiei finished their activities, and lay in the woods, asleep in each other's arms. They had put their clothes back on, just in case anyone accidentally walked up on them. Hiei then sat bolt upright.

"Hiei? What's wrong?"

"I sense someone coming."

"Is it human?"

"No. It's a youkai."

They both got up and took a fighting stance. Then from the trees fell a teenage girl. Hiei was fast and caught her. Kurama asked, "Who is she?" Hiei replied, "I don't know, but her ki seems familiar..."

"What happened?" "You fell out of a tree," Hiei said. Hina looked at Hiei. Her son. She couldn't hold her feelings back any longer. She lunged forward and embraced him in a hug, crying with tears of joy. Kurama started to giggle, since he thought that this girl just had a crush on him. Boy, was he wrong. "HEY!" Hiei shouted. "Get offa me!" Hina slowly backed off, but she still had a smile on her face. "My darling baby, my Hiei. Don't you remember me? I'm your mother, Hina." Hiei and Kurama both stood with their mouths wide open from shock.

"Mommy?"

"Yes honey, I'm your mother. I've missed you so much. Do you still have that pearl-gem that I gave you?"

Then Hiei broke down into tears and let himself cry into Hina's arms. Hina looked up at Kurama. He just smiled and nodded, then walked back to his own house to see his mother. Hina looked back at Hiei, who was still crying out the years of emotion and tears that he had buried inside himself for so long.

"I'm surprised that you didn't suspect me of being someone else."

"I knew that you were telling the truth once you asked me about the pearl-gem. Only you and I know that you gave it to me."

"So do you have it?"

"It's right here on my chain." Hiei took the necklace out from underneath his shirt and showed his mother the pearl. "See. I still have it."

Hina also broke into tears and they both hugged each other. They told each other about all the things that have happened in their lives. Hina then asked Hiei if he knew about his twin sister. "Yes, I know about her. But I can't tell her that I'm her brother. I've done so many bad things..." "Hiei," Hina said in a firm voice, "If you love her, tell her that you are her brother. It won't matter what you have done before, what matters is what you do now." Hiei slowly nodded. "Good. Now take me to my daughter."

Genkai's Temple

Genkai was out training Yusuke in some more fighting techniques, so Yukina was alone. Hiei walked up to her. She looks so innocent, thought Hiei as he walked up to her. I can't tell her, and he started to walk away when he met the gaze of two dark eyes. "Go. I'm telling you now. If you don't tell her, you'll regret it. You'll cause her more pain by not telling her who her brother is than by telling her the truth." Hiei knew this was the truth, and yet he still didn't want to tell Yukina that he was her brother. He turned to walk back to her, but she was right in front of him when he turned around. "Hiei? Who is your new friend?"

"Uhh... Yukina?"

"Yes?"

"There's something I need to tell you..."

"What is it? Have you found my brother?"

*Gulp*

Hina tapped Hiei on the shoulder. "Tell her!" Hiei suddenly found courage in his mother's eyes. "Yukina, I am your brother. I was just too damn scared to tell you because I was afraid you would reject me..."

Yukina broke into tears of joy. "Oh Hiei! I always knew, somewhere in my heart, I knew that you were my brother. I could feel it. I'm so glad you told me!" "So you're not going to reject me?" "No! Of course not! Hiei, I love you!" They embraced in a brother-sister kind of way. Hina started to cry. "My kids," she whispered. Yukina then turned to Hina. "Hiei, you still haven't told me who your friend is."

Hina dried her eyes and looked at her. "Yukina, honey, I'm... your mother..." Yukina froze with shock. Hiei put an arm around her shoulders. "It's okay," he said. "She is our mother, reborn as a human." Then Hina and Hiei explained to Yukina about what had happened in the past. Yukina knew the truth now, and she was never happier in her life than she was in this moment...

Yukina's Thoughts

Wow! I found my brother and my real mother all in one day. I knew today was going to turn our great. Hiei, my long lost brother, who really wasn't lost, and my real mother, the one who gave birth to Hiei and me. My family is now whole once more.

Hiei's Thoughts

I find my mother, and I told Yukina that I am her brother. I have nothing more to hide. All those emotional barriers that I have put up over the years have melted away. Now I have a family. A real family.

Hina's Thoughts

It took me so long to find them. The children I gave birth to. My children. My family is now whole... but where is their father?
