The Myrtle Masonic Lodge of Belleville, Number 89, F. & A.M. was organized on March 8, 1856. The members erected a brick building at the corners of Main Street and High Street, which was dedicated December 27, 1859. The committee members of the Masonic Lodge, at the time of its opening were:

In August of 1877, the trustees of the Masonc Building Association, purchased lots Number 139 and 140, of Mrs. Matilda Frain, the widow of Henry Frain, for $400.00 for the building of a larger lodge.
