The Priest Family of Nankin Township

Ephraim Priest Sr. arrived in Nankin Township, Michigan about 1836, and settled in an area then known as Perrinsville. He was born in 1787 in Mass, and died in 1851 in Nankin Township.
He married and had 3 children, all of whom were born prior to his arrival to Michigan.

John Priest was born about 1812, in Canada. In 1880 he was listed on the Dearborn Township census as a widower, then living with his daughter, Charlotte Davis, and his granddaughter, Georgia Davis.

Ephraim Priest, Jr was born about 1822 in Canada. He married in 1848 in Nankin Township, to Almira Bucklin, the daughter of James Bucklin and she was born in 1828. They moved in the early 1850's to Washtenaw County, and later to Lenawee County. At the age of 42, he enlisted in the Civil War on October 14, 1864 in Adrain, Michigan. He developed lung trouble from exposure to the cold and rainy nights while on sentry duty. He was discharged August 18, 1865 in Detroit, Michigan. Ephraim died September 22, 1884 in Clinton Township, Michigan at the age of 62 years and is buried at the Clinton Cemeetery. His wife, Almira died in 1912 in Clinton Township as well. Ephraim and Almira had three children: Charles Priest born October 29, 1851 in Nankin Township; Sara Elizabeth Priest, who later died March 29, 1929 in Adrian, Michigan; and James Priest who was born in 1863, and married a lady named, Mary, had one daughter, Almira, and both James and Mary passed away in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Nathan Priest, was born about 1820 in Canada. He married a lady named, Lucinda (maiden name, unknown) and had one son named, Albert . Albert was born in 1850, and soon after the family moved "west".

There is evidence of possibly three daughters to Ephriam Sr and his wife.
Clarisse Priest, who died in Nankin Township in February 1850, she was born in Vermont, had a husband, John O. Phillips and one daughter, Rebecca.
Elizabeth Priest, who married a man named, Daniel Burton.
There is also made mention of an Austin Price, grandson to Ephraim Sr, so there is perhaps one other daughter, who married and had children with a man, Price.
