    Ambrose was one-half Choctaw Indian.  His father was a Choctaw Chieftan named Nittuchachee and his mother a white woman whose name is unknown. Nittuchachee was chief of the southern part of the Choctaw Nation and signed the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek in 1830, delivering the lands of central Mississippi into the hands of the white man.
