Breakdance Definitions

Here are a list of commonly know words used in breakdancing.
 
 

Air Tracks - The body is somewhat horizontal in comparison to the ground, and a 360 rotation is completed and the body is caught with the hands. Looks similar to a swipe but without the hands, this movement is demonstrated well by Krazy Kujo.
Apple Jacks - A leg is kicked up and back throwing the Breaker onto their hand(s) and other leg. Two legs can be used and the breaker supports themselves on only their hand(s) (The free hand can grab the foot).
Baby Mills - Windmills with your hands and legs tucked close to your body in the fetus position. Looks like a human ball rolling in the same spot the technique mimics that of a windmill.
Back Spins - The Breaker spins in a circle on their back.
Brazillian - Capeoreira movement, the body is balanced on one hand. One hand stand with the legs spread into a L shape.
Bronco - From standing position, the breaker jumps into slanted hand stand, then kicks back into standing position. This is repeated to give the effect of a bucking bronco.
Butt Spins - The Breaker spins in a circle on their butt.
Crab - In the turtle position the breaker either moves forwards or backwards.
Coffee Grinder - The Breaker leg sweeps around in circular direction while in a crouch. Other leg hops over sweeping one.
Confusion - Windmills with your hands covering your ears/face.
Crickets - Turtles where the breaker not only moves in a circle but hops while turning.
Dick Spins - The Breaker spins in a circle on their stomach/crotch.
Elbow Spin - similar to 1990 but the body is spun and balanced on the elbow.

Flares - gymnastic movement where the legs a spread and the body is supported on only two hands. The legs are then moved around and under the body but are still kept spread.
Four Step - Foot work that uses four steps to give the effect of walking in a circle but not moving.
Genies - Wind mills with you arms crossed over your chest.
Jack Hammers - The body is supported on one hand with their elbow in their gut. The Breaker then hops and turns in a circle using only one hand.
Hallo - Windmills without your arms and off your head instead of your upper body.
Hand Cuffs - Windmills with your hands behind your back.
Head Spins - The breaker balances on their head and spins.
Head Swipes - Swipes with your head supporting you and turning on your head.
Hollow Back - A handstand with back arched, accomplished by looking at your chest in a handstand.

Kip - Ups - Kung-fu move where the breaker rolls back from a lying position to his upper back, and then kicks legs up and snaps body back into standing or crouching position.
Knee Spins - The Breaker spins in a circle while balanced on their knee
Leap Years - The movement of a 1990 but the breaker also jumps (both hands can be used).
Mini Flares - Half of a flare.
Mocacho - Capeoreira movement, similar to a back hand spring.
Mummies - Wind mills with your arms crossed over your chest and legs together.
Nut Crackers - Wind mills with your hands grabbing your crotch.

Rubber Bands - continuous kip-up where the breaker does the movement over and over. Standing and falling back onto their hands to repeat the motion
Scissors - In a handstand position the breaker jumps with their hands and then by kicks their legs forward and backward giving the effect of scissors cutting.
Six Step - Foot work that uses six steps to give the effect of walking in a circle but not moving.
Suicide - The breaker does a front flip and lands on his/her back without hurting themselves.
Swipe - From all fours, with the back facing the floor , the breaker kicks their legs into the air and spins 360° landing back in original position.
T - Flares - The legs and together and are spun around the body, movement is similar to a flare.
Threads - The Breaker creates a loop wither with two limbs or the floor and a limb. Then another limb is stuck through the loop "threading" it.
Turn Table - The body is supported on one hand with their elbow in their gut. The breaker then uses their other hand to paddle themselves in a circle.
Turtle - The body is supported on both hands with their elbows in their gut. The breaker then moves around in a circle by shifting their hands.
Two Step - Foot work that uses four steps to give the effect of walking in a circle but not moving.

UFO - Movement that is similar to turtle but the body is not supported with the use of stabbing.
V - Kick - From a crouching position the breaker kicks back with legs back and supports themselves with their hands. Their legs form a V shape.
Wind Mill - Very popular break dance movement. The legs are spread wide and the Breaker rotates on their upper body giving the effect of rolling on the spot.
Worm - From a lying down position the Breaker rolls their body forward in a wave motion along the ground.

1990 - The body is balanced on one had and the breaker spins on that one hand while in a handstand.
2000 - Same technique as 1990 but the other hand is on top of the other hand you are spinning on.
Bite - To copy another breaker's moves or techniques and claim them as your own.
Flavor - An interesting technique or style developed by a Breaker.
Foot Work - The term given when movements are done and all arms and legs are on the floor. i.e. Six - Step.
New School Breaking - The newest form of breaking, involves threads.
Old School Breaking - The basic form of breaking, Up rock to Foot Work to Power/Freeze. Windmills were the popular power move.
Stabbing - The Technique used to support one self in a breaking movement by putting your elbow in your gut and resting your wait on your arms in that manner.
Up Rocks - Technique used before down rock/foot work. The Breaker dances around in the circle.
