THE ARCHIES
US of Archie Songs
Unreleased on album
Recorded 1974?
Now two years after the last single by The Archies was released, Filmation aired US of Archie on CBS.  This marked the return of The Archies performing musical numbers.  Now it is unknown (so far) whether Don Kirshner was supervising this sessions or not, but the songs that were featured on this show was never released in album form.  That would have been good, but nothing materialized as far as that goes.  Also, I don't believe Ron Dante was singing on this show during the musical numbers.  Further research is needed to be done.

UPDATE 10/12/2004:  I now have the full scoop on these sessions thanks to Mark Chadbourne's Ron Dante fan page (link coming soon).  After
Archie's Funhouse ended its run, Don Kirshner and Ron Dante parted ways with Filmation, but it wasn't the end of The Archies.  Just as Archie's TV Funnies was to hit the airwaves, Kirshner released The Archies' last new full-length album This Is Love. Then the last singles "Love Is Living In You" and "Strangers In The Morning" came out in 1971 and 1972 respectively.  After those singles were out, that was the end of Kirshner's Archies, only to be reborn as The Chan Clan.  Kirshner and Dante struck a deal with Hanna-Barbera (who ironically was enjoying success with another Archie Comics property, Josie and the Pussycats) to do songs for their series based on Asian detective Charlie Chan titled The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan.  People recognized the voice immediately as the voice of The Archies coming out of The Chan Clan.  No Chan Clan album was produced by Kirshner.  Which brings me to US of Archie.  It turns out that Don Kirshner had nothing to do with this series, nor did Ron Dante.  Filmation hired their own in-house group and dubbed them The Archie Kids.  So now that we've got the information on this series, I hope it clears up any questions you wanted to know.
