Nappa is a Saiyan who was once Vegeta's right-hand man. Commander in Chief of the Saiyan Army, he is very muscular and big, but is light-headed and stubborn. His rank gives him a lot of pride and he it goes to his head. He destroys Tien, Choasu, and Piccolo, but Goku overwhelms him with his new strength and power from training. Vegeta kills Nappa because of his lack of strength and so that the pride of the SAiyan race is not tarnished.
