The MP66 is a further development of the MP44, with a 6x6 chassis instead of a 4x4 chassis. As it's name implies it too is a mine protected armoured personnel carrier/patrol vehicle. It is designed to be a spacious, highly manoeuvrable and comfortable vehicle, thanks to it's all round independent suspension, offering a high level of ballistic protection, especially against mines. This combined with Timoney's ergonomically designed, high energy absorbing seats (reducing a 100 G impact to a survivable 15 G) makes this a very suitable vehicle for long range patrols over all surfaces. It's extra chassis allows it to have greater armour protection as standard allowing it to withstand 7.62mm Armoured Piercing ammunition. Timoney have completed a prototype hull, in mild steel, of the MP66 and will fit engine and drivetrain later. The vehicle has a different layout from the illustration above, with two forward steerable axels and one rear axel. It also has a modified front more akin to the production Bushmaster design. The rearrangement of the axels allows the vehicle to continue driving even if one of it's front wheel are blown off. |
