Khyber

The Khyber Pass and valley to the east, have resounded to the tramp of marching feet as successive waves of men hurtled down the crossroads of history, for commerce, migration or invasion. Herodotus wrote in 430 B C: "The most warlike of all . . . are those who live around the city of Kaspatures in the country of Paktues".

The Pathans are a fascinating people, brave, handsome but tribal in outlook. Their rugged land has beautiful terrain in the northwest where the mountains merge into snow-capped peaks. Their hospitality and candour have won the hearts of all friendly visitors.
