Mingora


It is 3.21 km (2 miles) from Saidu Sharif, and has yielded magnificent pieces of Buddhist sculpture and the ruins of great stupas. The largest liveliest and most flourishing town is Swat. 6 km beyond Udegram, it has an airport, a golf course and many cheaper hotels and restaurants and a busy bazaar area that is worth exploring for semi-precious stones, locally woven and embroidered cloth and tribal silver jewelry. It has been an important trading center for at least 2,000 years.

Udegram

It is 6 miles from Saidu Sharif in Swat at small bazaar and extensive ruins where 7 successive layers of habitation have come to light the last one corresponding to the times of Kushan King Vasudeva. There are massive ruins of a castle.

Mahmud Ghaznavi's General Khushal Khan who vanquished Raja Gira died here. There is a tradition that the daughter of Raja Gira fell in love with Khushal Khan and it was through her efforts that the General was able to capture that fort.

Marghazar

It is 8 miles off Saidu Sharif in Swat. 4 200 feet high it is a summer resort in the midst of high wooded mountains and enjoys a pleasant climate. The surrounding hills are alive with bears, which come down to the valley in the sugarcane season (late autumn). The main building of interest is the 'Sufaid Mahal' (white palace) a beautiful palace of marble constructed by the former rulers of Swat. It now functions as a hotel. Behind Marghazar on one of the peaks of lleem Plateau on an elevation of 9,000 feet is a Hindu temple 'Ramtakht' according to legend Ramchandar visited the site according to Buddhists legend it is the birth place of the second Buddha.

Bahrain

The place is famous for door handles windows. Tables and chairs.
