Funeral services for Dortha Mae Dowdy Gilbert, 80, Ft. Lupton, Colo., and formerly of the Twin Bridges area, were Dec 10, 1999, at Chapel of the Bostick Funeral Home in Ft. Lupton, with Roger Steele officiating.
Mrs. Gilbert died Dec 7, 1999, at Denver, Colo. She was born Dec. 8 1918, in Edna, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph William and Ida Mae Butts Dowdy.
She lived in the Twin Bridges area as a young woman. On Dec 26, 1936, she was married at West Plains to Olen Lanson Gilbert.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Baker and husband, Richard, Joliet, ILL, and June Dalton and husband, Jim, Denver, Colo; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister, Millie Samms, Ft Lupton, Colo, and another sister in the state of California; many nieces and nephews; and five sisters in law, Opal Pierce and Colleen Gilbert, both of Willow Springs, Rosie Gilbert, West Plains, Lucille Collins, Minneola, Kan., and Josie McDowell, Meade, Kan.
She was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Dan and Clarence Dowdy; one sister, Zelpha; and a baby sister who died in infancy.
Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Ft Lupton beside her husband who died in January 1995.
