Funeral Services for Verda Collen Gilbert, 68, Willow Springs, were 10 am, Monday, July 10, 2000, at Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home, Cabool, with the Rev. Paul Majors officiating.
Mrs Gilbert died July 6, 2000, at St Johns Regional Health Center, Springfield. She was born March 31, 1932, at Siloam Springs, the daughter of March and Bertha Clinton Roper.
On Jan 17, 1947, she was married to Howard Gilbert.
Mrs Gilbert was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed gardening, flowers, and being with her family. She was a long time resident of Willow Springs.
She was of the Baptist faith and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her father, March Roper, Cabool; four daughters, Patsy Glenn and husband, Charlie, Hennassey, Okla., Caroline "Kay" Colbert and husband, Van, Willow Springs, Sandra Miller and husband, David, Plato, and Deborah Strong, Cabool; one son, Howard Gilbert Jr and wife, Bonnie, Willow Springs; 10 grandchildren, Chuck Glenn, Mark Glenn, Sharon Morrison, Michael Wraught, Brian Wraught, Scott Miller, Jessica Grueter, Sarah Grueter, Howard Gilbert III, and Andrew Gilbert; 14 great grandchildren; and four sisters in law, Opal Pierce, Lucille Collins, Rosie Gilbert, and Josie McDowell.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband of 49 years and an infant brother.
Burial was in Little Zion Cemetery in Douglas County under the direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Hom
