Prince Aly Khan's Flaminia...
The greatest pilot of the past (and future) ... TAZIO NUVOLARI... had an Augusta for his personal transport which says a lot about the Lancia's behaviour! Jan Van Hoorick of the Lancia Club Belgio has a preference for the Augusta also...
Raf Vallone, another Italian actor, may not be very well known, but he's the bad Maffia boss with his black Fiat Dino in "The Italian Job"... and he was especially bad when he had the Miura crashed and dumped in a mountain river. Benny Hill's E-type didn't escape to his way of warning and was thrown in a ravine as well as Michael Caine's DB 4 Aston Martin... too bad to look at... but where these cars as well as they look or just rotten lookalikes...? Either way... who was responsible for this massacre?

The Lancia is black now and still has the pop out " la Zagato" door handles and the Fontana hard top ordered by Mr. Vallone. Note the black part behind the windscreen... wether this was original or not is the question. The B24 was very fashionable and a special one-off with more pronounced tailfins was made for Brigitte Bardot. Her husband,
Roger Vadim had a Flaminia Touring...
Another movie star, Greta Garbo. I didn't know she was fond of rallying, but what car could better suit a women than the nimble easy handling Lambda?

A Bentley blower looks more masculine of course but you need Schwarzenneger and Stallone to turn the wheel while Muscles from Brussels Jean Claude Van Damme is doing all he can to slowen the truck down by pushing with all his power on the brakes... So it's quite stupid to say a car is "Feminine" when all the commands are light and easyl... it's not feminine... it's exquisitely engineered!
"One day I'll drive to heaven in this car...."

Need I say more?

And
Pinin had a lot of very nice cars to choose from....
Queen Elizabeth and the Duke on their official visit to Italy... driven around Rome in a lenghtened Flaminia. I think 3 of these were built. Pay attention to the perfect flanks and door gaps... Pininfarina at his best!
12 may 1960, Prince Aly Khan's (48) 2500 GT Touring in which he had a fatal crash in the Bois de Boulogne whith a drunken Simca  driver...  Bettina, the most  famous model of that time (see below) came out uninjured. His ex-wife was Rita Hayworth. Aly Khan's Flaminia had a CD 'Corps Diplomatique" registration.

Just a  few years later, on the 5th of july, 1965 in the same Bois de Boulogne but  on the Avenue de la Reine Marguerite, the mondane playboy and Lancia racing driver,
Porfirio Rubirosa, had a fatal accident in his Ferrari 250 GT.  (see picture below)

In both accidents,  the one piece  steering column was  deadly dangerous...

"DEATH ON A CURVE"

One evening last week Aly picked up Bettina in his new LANCIA and headed for a country house in the Parisian suburb of Ville d'Avray, where they were expected for a dinner. He waved the chauffeur to the rear and took the wheel.

As he rounded a gentle curve near St. Cloud race track, where his thoroughbreds had often been led to the winner's circle, a small, beat-up Simca came around the bend on the wrong side of the road. The collision flung Aly forward and he was killed almost instantly by a broken neck, (Bettina and the chauffeur were unhurt) Aly died has he would probably have wanted to: at the wheel of low-slung car with a beautiful woman beside him!
