Friends Here and There

Apart, in person, not in thought
Carrie Beth Patterson
Age: 18
Lives In: Midland, Texas
LIkes: Playing the violin
Doesn't Like: Spanish Class
First Met: July 2001, outside the registration office at Teen Mania in Garden Valley Texas.
Carrie and I have stayed in touch for going on 3 years and grown very close by little more than phone calls and letters. She's definitely one of the defining friendships of my life, one in which I've experienced every emotion under the sun. No one's taught me more about unconditional love than her, cuz under that blunt don't care extriour beats a tender heart of pure gold. She's currently single, and we're finally starting to retrieve the friendship that got so hurt a year ago. She's worth the effort:)
Vicky Gulick
Age: 18
Lives In: Somewhere in central Texas
Likes: Dancing and Fort Madison
Doesn't Like: Boyfriends
First Met: March 2002, at praise and worship practice in the U-Turn warehouse.
Vicky only visited Fort Madison once or twice a year, and everytime she came through there was a new swarm of guys after her. I've felt like a brother to her many times, trying to protect her from the stalkers that would be, but usually found out I didn't have to. She's fun and talkative, never seen Star Wars, and as far as I know still likes to come to Fort Madison to visit her family.
Lacey Brown
Age: 18
Lives In: Amerillo, Texas
Likes: Lord of the Rings
Doesn't Like: Working out legs
First Met: Spring of 2003, in Solomon's Porch, while her mom was speaking at a women's meeting
Yet another fun friend from Texas. Lacey comes from a family of pastors, of which she is the youngest. Honestly I don't know her very well, having only spent one night out together with a group of friends. But she's friendly, full of fun stories, and a complete rebel (we took our pictures with the LOTR poster, yeah!) We keep in touch by email.
Dustin Houser
Age: 20
Lives In: Glenwood, Iowa last I knew
Likes: Weird Al, video games
Doesn't Like: Anyone to beat him
First Met: Sept of 1992, on the playground of West Elementary, playing Super Mario Bros.
Dustin, Dustin, Dustin... my oldest friend I'm still in contact with. We were best friends all through school, clear until I moved away our 10th grade year. We spent lots of time drawing our made up characters, playing video games, and talking about girls. I last saw in two summers ago, and really miss my brother. Hope we get in touch again someday.
