-pieris japonica 'mountain fire' -'mountain fire' Japanese pieris -purchased from Cross Creek Gardens in New Albany, OH in April 2005 -planted in its current location in April 2005 -current height ~2' In 2004 I made the mistake of planting these in an area exposed to the wind. The winter was not kind to them. (This is a new one.) I have transplanted them to a more sheltered location, and they are recovering well, albeit as smaller plants. |

-New foliage is bright red, turning to green -Both leaves and flower buds stay on the plant during winter and are prone to dessication. Keep it out of cold, dry winds or it could end up like this: |
