Review of
The Silk Road Designs Armoury
I must first say that this is my armoury.
That said --
The armourer of "Silk Road Designs Armoury" was trained in the production of wearable reproductions of Medieval combat armour. After having worked with European designs for some time, he undertook research and development of Eastern Armour Designs (styles that were woefully underrepresented in the historical Reenactment world). As a product of the research, he created Armour of the Silk Road a site designed to teach about Eastern Armour.
The "Silk Road Designs Armoury" does not carry armour in stock. All armour is made expressly to the needs of the client -- lighter armour for theater productions or costumes, heavier armour for live historical reenactment and so forth.
Armour is made from metals that are as close as possible to historical originals and leather. Plastics are not used.
Fantasy designs are cheerfully undertaken -- but I will not copy the original creations of other artists.
Because this is my armoury, I will not extoll the virtues of the armour. A few photographs are included on this page with little comment.
I try to be very responsive to my clients, replying to inquiries and requests as quickly as I can with as much information as I can offer. In addition to simply making what you ask for, I try to work with the client (using all of my knowledge of historical design) to design exactly what the client needs.
As all I do is hand made, you must have a substantial amount of patience if you are planning to order from me. Minimum waiting time (when my queue is empty) is two months for a very basic order.
