Fats

For thirty years Dominic Peter Corrado assisted his father Pietro and brother Anthony "the Bull," in directing the numbers racket in metro Detroit and surrounding areas. Dominic was highlighted in the 1963 U.S Senate subcommittee hearings better known as the Valachi hearings as a gambling specialist for the Detroit Outfit. Corrado also served as the director of Hazel Park Race Track, a position he held until 1969 when he was forced to resign after being named in an indictment on charges of receiving kick back payments from the Teamsters pension fund. Acquitted of all charges in 1970, Corrado returned to his directors position the following year. Dominic was also targeted in 1970 on charges arising from bankruptcy proceedings filed on behalf of the Palm Springs Furniture Co. This case was settled infavor of Corrado before a trial date was set. Dominic later went on to co-found Central Sanitation Services in Hamtramck. Central Sanitation reportedly played prominently in the disappearance of former IBT President James R. Hoffa in 1975. Many investigators feel that Hoffa's remains were disposed of on the premises of Central Sanitation which incidently burned to the ground a year after Hoffa disappered and investigators began looking more closely at Central. During a federal raid aimed at gathering information into the dealings of the Detroit family, investigators raided 21 spots suspected of being under the influence of the Corrado family and their numbers syndicate which was suspected of taking in as much as $60 to $80 million a year. Dominic Peter Corrado aka Fats died Wednesday June 26,1985 at the age of 55 having battled a heart condition for some 8 years.
