Vampirella (1996)
mini-review

Another straight-to-video movie, Vampirella is based on the well-known Harris Comics character. In this particular adaptation, Ella, daughter of a powerful politician on the planet Drakulon, travels to earth to avenge her father's death. Once on earth, she dons the name Vampire-Ella (or Vampirella - there's some creative writing). She then joins up with the member of a vampire-hunting organization (who, surprise, surprise, has the surname "Van Helsing"), and proceeds to help him fight said vampires (who are basically the killers she is looking for). Talisa Soto plays Vampirella and Roger Daltrey (!) plays the evil Vlad that she follows all the way from her home planet.

It's interesting to see the Vampirella character adapted to the big (er...small) screen, but this movie watches like a poorly done TV Pilot. The writing and dialogue are pretty sad, and Daltrey's acting is over the top.

See it if you're a die-hard Vampirella fan or a comic book movie completist like me.

Otherwise, just don't bother.
