PAUL FIELD

Music Industry Manager, Songwriter, Singer Musician.

Paul is currently co-manager of The Wiggles.

In the 1980's, Paul and brothers John and Anthony (Tony) formed The Cockroaches. Playing feel-good rock and R&B music proved successful for the Cockroaches; they even scored a Top Ten hit during the 12 years they spent together. The Cockroaches took their name from the Rolling Stones' favored nom de plum of the '60s. They quickly became a popular draw card at local pubs. They issued several singles on various independent labels, "Empty Heart" the most successful, peaking at number nine in October 1981 in Australia.

In 1986, they signed a deal with Regular Records, (home to Icehouse and Mental as Anything). The band's first single for Regular Records, "Wait Up," hit the Top 40. The band's debut album, The Cockroaches, was released in March 1987 and reached number nine on the national charts on its way to sales of over 100,000 copies. It also produced the band's biggest hit single, "She's the One," which peaked at number seven in April 1987.

The Cockroaches undertook a national Australian tour during 1989 with Mental as Anything and released their third album, Positive, in 1991, after which the group disbanded.

Paul and his brother Tony Field along with other 'Cockroach' Jeff Fatt subsequently decided to form a children's band that would prove far more successful than anything they had previously experienced.

Calling themselves the Wiggles, the Fields and Fatt joined forces with Murray Cook (bass) and Greg Page (vocals). The Wiggles, with their distinctive colorful skivvies, quickly earned a reputation for writing well-crafted children's songs. Children immediately took to their storytelling, singing, and dancing, and such characters as Dorothy the Dinosaur, Henry the Octopus, Captain Feathersword, and Wags the Dog helped launch a range of Wiggles merchandise.

Their debut album, The Wiggles, reached platinum status (70,000 copies sold) while its single, "Here Comes a Song," reached gold record status (35,000 copies sold). The follow-up albums, Here Comes a Song (1992), Yummy Yummy (1993), Big Red Car (1995), and Wiggly Wiggly Christmas (1996), also achieved platinum status.

The Wiggles won two Australian Performing Right Association (APRA) songwriting awards for Best Children's Song of 1994, 1995, and 1996. Big Red Car, Wake Up Jeff, and Toot Toot also won Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) Awards for Best Children's Release in 1995, 1996, and 1998 respectively.

Videos such as Wiggle Time, Yummy Yummy, and Big Red Car all achieved double platinum status while the band's fourth video, Wake Up Jeff!, sold over 200,000 copies in 1996. With the release of The Wiggledance in 1997, the band had sold almost one million videos and their two books, Let's Wiggle and Dorothy the Dinosaur's Picture Book, were in multiple editions. The Wiggles released their first film, Dorothy the Dinosaur, in 1997 and have toured New Zealand and the U.K., as well as the U.S.
