What must not be done about on-line hate

I know absolutely nothing about him or what goes on at that address.

You're a little closer than I am.

Have you informed your local police about Hamas being in your community?

Well, in the first place, it's just wrong.

Secondly: it won't work -- it would be just another example of a hate-crime against Muslims. The sympathy towards the Muslim 'victims' generated would far out-weigh the costs of any damage caused. They may want and hope someone does some 're-decorating' so they can get some great press. In other words: it would be HELPING the Jehadis not hurting them.

Third: it might be a mistake. We know nothing about that address or the person who registered the site. It might (or probably) is fake and an un-deserving business could be targeted. Israeli Mossad thought they were targeting a major terrorist a few years ago -- and insted assasinated a waiter for a Morrocan restaurant. Mossad suffered serious damage as a result (lost support even from within Israel) and the terrorist was able to continue killing people. Mistakes cannot be made - ever!

Forth: If it really is a terrorist operation (and you have to admit, HAMAS has a reputation) it would be very dangerous -- you might get killed. Leave any official action to the police.

Fifth: We want to shut them down permanentely. They'll just bring them back up tomorrow at another ISP. We need to get them into court, use the 'discovery process' to get more information into the hands of the public, get them fined, and deported or jailed for their activities.

Sixth: violence escalates. Look at the endless retalitory attacks occuring in India -- Israel -- N.Ireland, or the wars between the 'bloods' and the 'crypts' in Los Angeles. Do you want that in Orlando Florida?

That's half a dozen good reasons why 're-decorating' will not work. Help me think of some more.

But if our goverments are too slow -- perhaps they could use a little help -- by obtaining good, solid, well documented evidence that can hold up in court.

The government can be made to go a little faster -- by getting on the phone, fax, and send letters to congress, your local officials and law enforcement and demand that they investigate why terrorists organizations (officially designated by the U.S. Dept. of State) are allowed to exist in our communities.

I disagree with you there.

The US Government is already breaking it's own rules by not enforcing FARA. http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/fara/

The US Government is breaking it's own rules by not enforcing Executive Order 13224 (blocking Terrorist Property AND PROHIBITING TRANSACTIONS WITH PERSONS WHO COMMIT, THREATEN TO COMMIT, OR SUPPORT TERRORISM). ( http://www.treasury.gov/terrorism.html ) Every ISP on my list is in violation.

It also means taking right action, effective action. Action that results in a permanent solution to the problem.

The terrorists need to be put away or deported. The ISPs need to enforce their contractual "terms of acceptable use".

Only the courts and law enforcement can accomplish that.

Only a lot of angry citizens -- with well reasoned actions -- can force the goverment and law enforcement out of it's natural lethargy.
