Daily Bible Reading Prayers
Meditative Prayers Before & After Reading

We have labored that the Holy Scriptures and the books left to us by the Church Fathers be multiplied by means of modern printing techniques and be distributed to all. O Christians, let us arise and, with the spiritual zeal and earnestness which characterized the Apostles and early Christians, let us labor to lead out brothers and sisters to our Savior Jesus Christ, Who only can give life in its fullest sense! (Haile Selassie I, Address to the World Evangelical Congress, 10/28/66)

Prayers Before Reading

In the name of the + Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Our Father Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, + Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and forever!

O Only-Begotten Son and Word of God, Who, being immortal, deigned for our salvation to become incarnate of the Holy Mother of God and ever-Virgin Maryam, and became Man without change: You were also crucified, O Krystos our God, and by death have trampled death, being one of the Holy Trinity with the Father and the Holy Spirit, save us!

Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth! You are everywhere present and fill all things. Treasury of Blessings and Giver of Life, come and dwell within us, cleanse us of all stain, and save our souls, O gracious Lord!

Glory to the + Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit now and ever and forever! Amen.

Gods love was revealed among us in this way: God the Father sent His only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. God proves His love for us in that while we were still sinners Krystos died for us. If we have been united with Iyesus Krystos in a death like His, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like His. If the Spirit of him who raised Krystos from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Krystos from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit who dwells in you.

How sweet are Your words to my taste, O Lord, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Praying one of these crucial passages each day of the week builds memory.

Now read the portion of the holy Scripture you planned to read today. A good reading program is available here if you do not already have a plan.

Prayers After Reading

Lord Jah, Your words are living and active, powerful and effective. Grant that we may receive them in faith. Transform our lives by the same Spirit Who inspired Your prophets.

Jah Father is my Hope, Jah Son is my refuge, Jah Holy Spirit is my protection. Beautiful, adorable, life-creating Trinity, dispel the corruption and darkness of sin, illuminate us with Your holy glory, and send us ablaze with the fire of Your Love, so we may return to You. Glory be to + the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever!

I also ask the prayers of our brothers and sisters in Iyesus Krystos, all Jah holy ones of heaven, and especially the holy Theotokos Maryam and the imperial martyr Haile Selassie I.

Hail to you O Virgin, the true and just Queen, Hail to the pride of our race, who for our salvation gave birth to Emmanuel! We ask you, trusted advocate, to remember us before our Lord Iyesus Krystos that He may forgive us our sins.

Passion-bearing emperor, Haile Selassie, martyr for the true faith of Krystos, please pray for us sinners before the eternal Throne of the most Holy Trinity! May we come to live with you in the glorious uncreated Light of the + Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Brothers and sisters, you are a gracious gift of Jah to us. Pray for us. Lord Iyesus Krystos, Son of Jah, through the prayers of your angels and holy ones, have mercy on us. Amen.
