Actions Reflect Faith

"Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.   Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven."
Matt. 5: 15-16

We are told in Ephesians 5 that a Christian's heart is now full of light and their actions should reflect their behavior.  We are to reflect God's goodness and mercy to others as we are children of light under God's new covenant of Grace.  We have been blessed by our Lord because of obedience and because of his loving kindness.  We are also to be a blessing unto others. God's Word says we are to show ourselves to be 'a pattern or example of good works' in all things.

Our Lord stressed the importance of our actions and how they should reflect faith, in His Sermon on the Mount.  Faith without works is called "dead faith" but the light of the Lord as seen by 'faith in action' will give life and glorify our Father in heaven.  We are saved by faith alone but if we continue on we will have works or produce fruit that is  pleasing unto the Lord.  This is why we are admonished to rejoice in the works of "His hands" as 'greater works' is only by His Spirit and power as He works in and through his children by the power of his might.  His works and ways should proceed from "our hearts and will be pleasing unto the Father."

Our desire in life should be to let our light shine for the Lord as He is the light and we are only the reflectors of His light.  We would have no light without the Lord's indwelling presence but because He abides within our hearts and lives, we can glorify Him by letting His light shine through us.  His light within our hearts warms our hearts and gives us joy unspeakable and full of joy. We can be thankful each new day for the Spirit of the
Lord which will abide with us forever.

God's Light

The world was dark and men walked in sin,
No hope for salvation until Jesus came as a man,
God's only Son sent down from above,
The supreme sacrifice from the Father with love.

The light of the World came to live among men,
To purchase salvation and set free from sin.
He came unto his own to give his life on Calvary's tree,
To shed his life's blood for you and for me.

The light of the World now lives in our hearts,
Through the Holy Spirit....we have a new start.
As his light shines and shows forth his love,
May our hearts look to Jesus....heaven's Holy Dove.
