Charter of Christian Freedom

"Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of  Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law
shall no flesh be justified.".......{Galatians 2: 16-KJV.}

We have a wonderful Christian liberty through the grace of our Lord.   I know each one of us  are thankful that we have been justified by faith.
Many say the Book of Galatians, written by the Apostle Paul, is the 'Charter of true Christian freedom' in Christ.  This is a wonderful book which proclaims the reality of our liberty in
Christ Jesus and freedom from the power of sin.  It reveals our freedom to serve a Living Lord and tells us how Judaizers were falsely teaching Gentile converts to obey Jewish laws in order to be saved.  This powerful letter written from
Antioch prior to the Jerusalem Council calls the Christian's attention to faith and their freedom in Christ.  We can only be justified and set free by faith in our living Lord.  The entire New Testament proclaims truth of who we are in Christ Jesus.  Whom the Son makes free is free indeed.

Christianity was born in Judea and then spread into Samaria and the rest of the world.  All the first converts were Jewish believers who had struggles with their dual identity.  Their Jewishness was what constrained them to be strict followers of the law, but their new found freedom invited them to celebrate a holy liberty in the finished works of Christ Jesus their Lord.  Many were ready to go back to the Law but were admonished to see they had been set free through the New Testament Covenant of grace by the Lord's finished work.

As we read the Apostle Paul's letter to the Galatians, we see that salvation can only be through faith.  The New Covenant of Grace and New Testament was signed and sealed by the blood of Jesus at the cross of Calvary. Resurrection day brought forth the promise that because he arose from the dead and lives forever, we too shall rise or be changed in a moment, to live with Him eternally.

As we realize the wonderful work of grace and see by faith God's plan of salvation, may we walk in the marvelous light of the Lord and let it shine in this world around us.  We can celebrate our freedom in Christ and rejoice in the  joy of our salvation.  We are made free.....yes, free indeed!

                        Free In Christ

Free in Christ from the bondage of sin,
Free from the law and things of the past,
Looking to the Lord as on Him we depend,
His Covenant of Grace will forever last.

Only the blood of a perfect lamb freely given,
Could atone for man's sins and make a way to heaven
Supplied by the Father through His perfect plan,
We have been saved and by his blood are forgiven.

The seal of the Spirit within our hearts
Has proclaimed us a child of the King,
Free from sin and born again of God,
We will worship Him and his praises sing.
