IT'S IN THE VALLEYS I GROW

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then I have to remember
That it's in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountaintop
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!

        Learning in the Valleys

Sometimes it takes the valleys of this life to see and understand God's words or visions of the Lord.  He will keep us "in Him" and teach us just how powerful he is and the authority of His name.  Our desire should be to "see as he sees" and believe as he believes. He is the great "I AM".  We can "grow and go" as we learn with God's help.

When we see people who need help or we have a need ourself, we must first "believe"  to have a true revelation of "his faithfulness" to us.  A revelation is not what someone else tells us, but what God reveals to us.  It may be from what we have been taught or have read in the Word.  A true revelation is a personal "quickening" by the Holy Spirit in our souls enabling us to see what God wants us to see.  We can then believe for what may "look impossible" knowing God is the "God of the Impossible."

Is there anything too hard for our Lord to do?  There is nothing impossible with God.  "And he changeth the times and the seasons; he removeth kings, and setteth up kings, he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding."  Dan. 2: 21.  If God can change the times and seasons, remove kings and rulers or set them up, then we know it is an easy matter for Him to give wisdom, knowledge and understanding to those who ask Him.

Let us seek the heart of God daily and expect him to speak to us even in the midnight hour.  We can "be still" and "know that He is God"Believing and waiting on God is sometimes simply "standing still and seeing the salvation of the Lord."  While standing still, we are still going forward by faith.  This only means we do nothing in our own strength and power, but wait on the Lord while declaring his words.  The God of the mountain is still God of the valley.  Our Lord knows the way through all the deserts of this life.  He is "our oasis in dry places" and a living wellspring of life eternal.

All we have to do is hear him say, "lean on me" and just trust him.  He will be our strength and we can press onward toward the mark of the high calling in Christ.
