The Dream

I started off playing against little boys, than teenage boys, next thing you know I grew a couple inches and I was playing against grown men, they would challenge me and teach me. I remember one game at Gb park the guys kept throwing hard passes they called them bullets, and I always missed them and the guys would say "were going to keep throwing them" So I eventually got one and scored!

Age 14

The guys never let up on me and I felt they played me harder if anything to avoid being embarressed. Some men would say "shes a girl" but the overall attitude was this is a MENS GAME! "She shouldn't be out here if she can't handle it" I was brave, for that I was ran over, knocked down, man handled, dunked on, shot blocked, bruised, broken lip, elbowed, and I would come back everyday. Therefore a couple of years later at stark park I was sick of being dunked on, it was a game of one on one with Boons he tried to dunk on me and I blocked it. That block was never recorded anywhere but I know it was one of the most important blocks of my career, because after that I thought I could block anything.

This is at Macgovern Park , I eventually could no longer play on outdoor courts, in order to protect my knee, but the YMCA was closed!
