'Doctor on the Go' was the fifth in line of the very successful 'Doctor' TV series, but only the third (and the last) to appear as a strip in Look-in.

Duncan Waring (Robin Nedwell) and Dick Stuart-Clark (Geoffrey Davies) have returned from their stint aboard the M.S. Begonia.  Now fully fledged doctors with a few years of experience behind them, Duncan and Dick have have taken up full time posts at old haunt St. Swithin's.

Geoffrey Loftus (Ernest Clark) is still in charge and is less than pleased to have the notorious twosome back, but trusts that their wayward days are behind them.

Dunc and Dick however are still up to their old tricks, aided and abetted by old sidekick Paul Collier (George Layton), who is back at the hospital too, but Loftus has a new hand in the shape of Dr. James Gascoigne (Andrew Knox), who keeps an eye on the docs for him.

This was the last seen of the docs in Look-in, but the series was bought by an Australian network and reworked as 'Doctor Down Under' in 1979, to a muted reception, and ended after one series.

In 1991, some 22 years after the first doctor series debuted, the format was revived as 'Doctor at the Top' with all the regulars back, now working as private GP's, again the series wasn't a huge success and was canned after 7 episodes.

A sad end to a once great franchise, a case of overstaying your welcome, as was this strip, after two previous doctor strips, the ideas were thinning, the artwork was still top notch though especially the Harry North strips, with Bill Titcombe seeing the strip to it's end in 1978.

but when you think of the other great comedies on ITV at the time, (Love Thy Neighbour, Get Some In!, Mixed Blessings, The Fosters etc.,)  it's hard not to think what might have been if they had put the docs out to pasture a bit sooner.
