Did you know?

  1. The first settlers in the Hellam Valley arrived in 1719.
  2. One of the first churches erected west of the Susquehanna River is located in Hellam Township. Erected in 1746.
  3. In 1863, the Accomac Inn was called Glatz Ferry.
  4. Codorus Furnace, the only iron producing furnace remaining in York County is in Hellam Township.
  5. Hellam, established in 1739, was the first township established west of the Susquehanna as part of Lancaster County.
  6. Within a few blocks of Hallam Borough, one can find architecture from the mid 1700's to the 1960's.
  7. Nearly 70 percent of the buildings listed in the Historic American Building Survey of the 1930's are thought to be destroyed.
