SERVICE
  Due to the fact that Kappa Delta Chi is a service based sorority service plays a crucial role in our organization. The sisters of Psi Chapter feel that it is of utmost importance to remember to give back to the community and other surrounding areas that helped shape our own lives in hopes that we migbt affect others and inspire them to do the same. We especially put emphasis on the Hispanic community and the hardships that they face.

  Kappa Delta Chi also recognizes
The American Cancer Society as our national philantrophy.  We hold an annual Bowl-a-Thon in the fall semester each year to raise money for our philanthropy. Emphasis is also placed on Minority and Latino Outreach Efforts for the support of the Latino population's needs to include educational programs/scholarships and
health awareness programs.
 
Every sister is also required to complete 25 service hours each semester and they can be completed by doing a vast array of service projects.  Some of the events that our sisters participate in are:
Huppertz Elementary Challenge After School Program
   
Between the hours of 3 to 5 pm every weekday our girls go to Huppertz Elementary (a local school near St. Mary's) to help tutor elementary school kids in their various school subjects and help with homework.
 

San Antonio Children's Museum
    
KD Chi helps out at this museum giving tours, assisting children in the various displays and exhibits and just generally interacting with the visitors at the museum.
 
Boo Bash
    
Put on by St. Mary's during Halloween time for the area kids to come onto the campus and have a safe, fun and enjoyable trick or treat experience.

Habitat for Humanity
     Many of the student organizations on St. Mary's including KD Chi get together to help the community in building and fixin up houses for disadvantaged families and the elderly.


Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Drive

    
Our local Catholic parish, Holy Roasry, hosts a Thanksgiving dinner and handouts for needy families in the area and we go out and help with setting up, distributing and overseeing the dinner and festivities.

Elf Louise
     The annual Christmas gift wrapping for children that more or less would not have anything under the tree in the morning if not for the donations and generousity of other. It is held in local area malls and we help giftwrap, tag and sort the gifts for the children.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
     This is 5k run/fitness walk that helps fund breast cancer research and awareness. 


Fan Fiesta
    
Held at San Antonio Spurs Games it is a day full of games and booths before and during halftime at the game. We volunteer at the various booths and after half time are even free to watch the remainder of the game.

March of Dimes
    A walk to help raise money for lifesaving research and programs that help save the lives of premature babies and those born with birth defects.

Oyster Bake
     This Fiesta event is held every year on the campus of St. Mary's and KD Chi represents every year by having a booth selling some sort of Fiesta delicacy in support of raising money for our school.

Pathways Christmas Banquet
     Every year we sponsor foster children and buy them a christmas present that they otherwise might not have. We also volunteer at the christmas banquet they have complete with a dinner, games christmas carols and a special visit from Santa.
