Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Whew, now this is a rare Disney movie. Here we have a movie where Disney and Warner Bros. characters share the screen together. Toons drink and swear and there's murder involved too. But what people remember the most is how well they mixed live action with cartoon animation. It's nothing new, they were doing it in the early silent era of cartoons, but this time it's really convincing  and breathtaking to look at.
Not many people know this movie is based on a book titled,
Who Censored Roger Rabbit in which the toons are comic strip characters. I've never had the opportunity to see this book. Anyone out there have a copy? In this movie we learn that cartoons are made by filming toons with a camera and editing it. The same idea is used again in the game, Go Go Hypergrind.
Don't expect a happy kiddy movie. Expect a gritty mystery set in Hollywood in the 40s. Expect groundbreaking special effects, expect lots of crazyness and fun, and expect a mystery that actually can be solved if you're smart enough to figure it out. Can you show it to your kids? Sure, but use some discression. They did release it under touchstone afterall.
The deal Disney and Warner worked out was that their characters get equal screen time. It worked out better than they could imagine and the dueling pianos scnene with Donald and Daffy is still a fan favorite. It even has it's own
urban legend. Jessica has an urban legend of her own too.
The best thing about this movie is that it's so different. Too bad Disney hasn't made an effort like this one since then. It's not hard to find a copy of this movie with the new DVD release.
