Making a Security Ring

The last time I tried to lock my boats to my truck I had problems reaching the cockpits to run a cable through the cheek plates so I decided to try putting a cable security ring through the stern toggle rope where access is much easier. Here's how I did it

After tying the end knot I used a marlin spike to pull the inner braid of the 3/8" double braid rope (yacht braid) out through the outer casing braid just under the end knot. I cut the inner braid out completely and then used a splicing tool to feed the cable inside the outer braid. Once I got the cable inside the braid I swedged the ends of the cable as seen above. The swedge was then tucked inside the knot so you don't see it. I'm now able to run a cable through the toggle rope to lock it to the truck or to a tree with ease.
