In Mel Gibson's directorial debut, he plays a man who has been disfigured and shunned from society. A young boy comes to the man for help in his studies, and this, of course, arouses suspicion in the surrounding town. Filled with many good moments and performances, this film is one to be seen by all. Although this film is a personal favourite of mine, I must admit that it does push it a bit much on sentimentality.
