1994 ***** 99 mins.
If you were to take the artistry of Bleu and the realism of Blanc, cut out all of the terrible parts, and put them together, you would come up with Rouge.
This third installment in Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors Trilogy is the best one, bar none. Finally, he has a firm grip on all of his characters and the story. This is a perfect blend of art and fiction. A model meets with a former judge who listens in on his neighbor's phone calls. A story of love between another couple may seem out of place at first, but as the story progresses, it all is brought into beautiful, crystal clear focus. Rouge is a fantastic film that wins on all accounts.
Rated R for sexuality, nudity, and thematic elements.
