WARNING to all Jackie Chan fans. 36 Crazy Fists does not star Jackie Chan,
not even for 5 minutes. For some reason he was unable to act in this
movie due to contract restrictions, but he did direct the fight
scenes. In every case that I've seen this movie on any particular
label, it was being promoted as if it was a film starring Chan. But don't
let the cover fool you. Just because he's on the cover doesn't mean
he's in the movie. Now on to the review. Even though the movie
doesn't star Chan, it's still not that bad. Some of the characters
are annoying as hell when I guess they were supposed to be funny,
like that fool with the cigarette. The movie starts off pretty slow,
and you get sick of seeing that poor kid getting his ass kicked
repeatedly. But as the movie progresses it gets better. Not a
particularly good movie, but not terrible either. if you can find it cheap
pick it up.

A young Asian mans father is killed by a group of gangsters and he
himself is beaten by them. Two shaolin monks rescue him and try to
get their abbot to teach him martial arts. The abbot refuses and
tells him to leave.
But the monks try another master and they con him into taking the
young man as his student. But he doesn't teach him, but makes him do
chores instead. The boy learns kung fu from and old drunken master and
escapes the school.
He tracks down some of the gangsters that killed his parents but is
again beaten in battle. He then learns kung fu from some new friends
and with his skill he challenges the man who killed his father.
Again he is beaten. After his defeat, the Master agrees to teach him
and shows him some new very powerful tricks. He returns to face his
fathers killer and finally wins. The end.
