Onmyoji is what I would call a Japanese Lord of the Rings. An Onmyoji
is basically a type of wizard. He can use spells and other forms of
magic. As you can imagine, this leads to a lot of spell casting and
special effects that are done extremely well. You won't see much hand
to hand combat, or swordplay for that matter, but the story and
cool special effects easily make up for the lack of action. Over all
Onmyoji is a really good movie and I recommend it if you enjoyed Lord
of the Rings.

During the dark ages of demons and ghosts in the heian period
(794-1185 AD), the Emperor relies on the imperial order of the
Omnioji, who are the experts of the supernatural power, to protect
the kingdom. However, as the birth of the heir to the throne
approaches, political intrigue and jealousy will lead to the
most dangerous of betrayals from within the Onmyoji and the
Emperor's family. It will be to the most talented of the order,
Seimei (Mansai Nomura), to face his master, Doson (Hiroyuki
Sanada), and the dark magic that threatens to destroy them all.
