It's snowing in our town tonight,
it's all aglow with Christmas lights.
The roofs are covered in bright, white snow,
and from each chimney comes a cloud of smoke.
A joyous ride upon a sleigh,
as snow falls from the sky so gray.
Gleefully singing our favorite songs,
inviting our friends as we go along.
Bundled under a blanket with care,
to keep us warm from the evening air.
The night is young and the stars do shine,
as the horses gallop along in time.
We have gifts to wrap and bows to tie,
a wreath to hang and a tree to light.
Just one more round, one last ride,
before we have to say good night.
Winter delivers a shimmering glow,
like soft diamonds in the snow.
Covering the valleys and the town,
a blanket of white laid upon the ground.
There's a simple joy in a snowflake,
forming and falling with a delicate grace.
Kissing our cheeks with an icy touch,
a refreshing feeling I adore so much.

"Sleigh Ride" was covered by the American girl group the Ronettes. The Phil Spector-produced recording has become the most popular version outside the traditional pop standard genre, charting yearly in Billboard's Top Ten U.S. Holiday 100 and was #26 in 2018 in the Hot 100. After achieving a new peak of #21 in 2020, it became the group's second-highest chart hit in the US after "Be My Baby". It features the well-known "Ring-a-ling-a-ling, ding-dong-ding" background vocals, and the clip-clop and whinny of a horse at its beginning and end.
