LADIES CIRCLE VOORNE SERVICE-PROJECT

MANEGE WITHOUT BARRIERS

Updated March 4th 1999

Having fun in a horse cart bed

"Some children are so ill that they can't get better. In many cases they can't have fun because of their illness. That's why it's great that Stable without Barriers exists. They can horseride every week. And that is what they can enjoy! After a ride, children feel much better, if only for a little while. (Margriet Weekly, November 1994)

The main object of Stable without Barriers is to give pleasure to multiple handicapped people through horseriding.
This almost always happens lying down because these handicapped often cannot sit up.

A so-called horse cart "bed" is used during horseriding. Two ponies walk in a steel frame on wheels. Attached to this frame is a canvas cloth just above the horses' backs. The child lies on that cloth. Through the movement of the horses and their warmth, the body is being massaged in a natural way.

The effect is not only pleasurable to the child. It is also of great therapeutic value. Total relaxation of muscles and improvement of various bodily functions is the result.

Apart from the horse cart "bed" the Stable without Barriers also offers two guest buildings where handicapped groups and their nursing staff may stay and experience a wonderful holiday. Naturally, the guest buildings are fully equipped to supply to the needs of handicapped people.

There is great demand for such holidays and short breaks. Though families also would love to experience a holiday at the stable. That is why Stable without Barriers wishes to build two small apartments for families. There's space, the plans are ready and approved of, it's just a question of money. Money that is not available yet.

A stay at Stable without Barriers costs a lot of money. In spite of the many volunteers who work there for nothing, costs are not covered by a long shot. This organisation is not subsidised in any way and is fully dependent on donations.

Ladies Circle Voorne tries to do her bit through the sales of the book "Een Ark blaft" and by organising an auction of the original artwork published in the book. Please support Ladies Circle Voorne in her initiative!

Back to Service to order the book "Een Ark blaft".
