Welcome to The Parlor

Stay to Tea?

Memories all gathered
Captured in this room
Visions of so long ago
That somehow we resume

Hearts that shared a happy time
Joy that felt like bliss
Scent of roses fill the room
Spirits gently kiss

Take me back to long ago
Life in time stands still
Never rushing finding ways
With quiet days so full

Welcome to my parlor
Share some harmony
Hear the gentle whispers
Of sweetest memories

Enter into blissful days
Share a laugh or two
Welcome to the parlor
Dreams to share with you

Treasures of so long ago
We'll start anew today
Join me in cup of tea
Love forever stay.

Welcome to my Victorian pages. Within the following pages, I will share my preferences and some thoughts regarding this very special period of our history with you. One could say that I am a very Victorian person. I love laces, ruffles, quilts, stencils, antiques, collectibles, plates and platters, paintings, porcelain, and all that has that special Victorian beauty and unique style. I also enjoy collecting miniatures. Specially if they are handmade.

I love rustic gazebos. I can just picture myself reading or relaxing in one of those charming hide-away. It is so soothing for the soul and mind that from time to time we take a little time just to ourselves in order to regain energy and emotional balance. Everyday life sometimes can become extremely stressing. I have learned a lot through Victorian books and poetry on how to deal with many small things that, when you less expect, has turned into the most complicated issue you have had to deal with in a long while.

I have noticed that most people have the tendency to think that the Victorians were against changing. That is a complete mistake. The Victorians, at least, most of them, were not afraid of the improvements of technologies. It was just the other way around. They would definitely go for it!

Looking with a little more of attention, you will find out that the Victorian era was the time of incredible changes. When I say changes, I am referring to technology improvements as a whole. It was in the beginning of this era that the telegraph was invented. That was a revolution in communication! Specially if we are talking about long distances!

It didn't take very long for the telephone to show up. The Victorian times were making enormous changes in everyone's lives. However, until today, anything that is new, or totally different from what we are accustomed to dealing with causes a certain hesitation at first. But, in a short period we all get accustomed to these new changes and life continues to drag us down evolution lane, regardless our desire to do so or not...

The Victorian era saw the invention of the steamship, the automobile, and even the airplane!
