The Best Films of 2001:
1. "The Man Who Wasn't There."
2. "Mulholland Drive."
3. "Memento."
4. "Amelie."
5. "Shrek."
6. "Black Hawk Down."
7. "Monster's Ball."
8. "Lantana."
9. "A Beautiful Mind."
10. "Fat Girl."
Eleventh Place
These 10 movies are equal in my affection with those listed above, and can be considered a tie for 11th place. Alphabetically:
"The Deep End," "Ghost World," "In the Bedroom," "Lord of the Rings," "Monsters Inc.," "Oceans 11," "The Pledge," "Sexy Beast," "Vanilla Sky" and "With a Friend Like Harry."
Honorary Mention
There were a lot of other films I admired this year; the only reason they were not listed higher is that--well, other films here. They included:
"A.I.," "Amores Perros," "Center of the World," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and "Planet of the Apes. "
