POISON THE WELL
Poison the Well, every metalhead kid's favorite hardcore band.  I first heard about Poison the Well from Melina.  She made a copy of Opposite of December for me (sorry that I didn't buy it boys! I bought the new album though!)  and I instantly loved it.  Poison the Well are really melodic yet still maintain a good hardcore sound.  This is probably one of the biggest reasons I like them.  I also really loved Jeff's lyrics on that album. They were so sweet and heartfelt.   I often still wonder who he was writing about.

Poison The Well  released a new album in February called
Tear From The Red.  I preorderd it online and got a nifty poster.  I didn't think it would come in time, but I got it at exactly 3:15 on Tuesday, February 19th .  This new album is really amazing.  The first week I had it, it was all I listened to.  One track that really surprised me was "Horns and Tails".  It's an acoustic song that Jeff sings all the way through.  It's absolutely beautiful.  He has such a great singing voice, he should sing more often.  I'm sure that song freaked out a bunch of people, but it's good to change things up every now and then.  And besides the rest of the album is hard hitting, rockin out, good ole Poison the Well that we're all used to.  Jeff again has done a great job writing meaningful and thoughtful lyrics.  I can't wait to see them again.

The picture above is an old one that used to be on the main page of the official Poison The Well site.  Mike left the band and this guy named Ianno took over on bass.  Ianno played on
Tear From The Red but recently left the band, and now I'm not really sure who is playing bass.  But Jeff, Ryan, Chris, and Derek are all still in the band (YAY!) and I can't wait to see them on tour so that I can bug them. Just kidding.  But I would like to talk to them again because they all seem like really cool guys to me. As a matter of fact when I emailed Derek telling him how much I liked their new album and how much I couldn't wait for them to come back to Atlanta, he actually wrote me back!  I was surprised because I'm sure he gets tons of emails every day.  Anyway, this is what he wrote back to me:

shaliza
whats up! thanks for the kind words about the new record. im glad you enjoy it! same with the journals!
take care
derek the well

Wasn't that sweet of him to write back?  Oh yeah the journals he's talking about are PTW journal entries on the Trustkill site.  Derek and Chris write some of the funniest shit in there, and it ALWAYS makes me laugh.  Go here to read them.
Ryan Primack (guitar), Derek Miller (guitar), Jeffrey Moreira (Vox), Chris Hornbrook (drums) and Mike Gordilla (bass)
