Daniel Elessar
King of Gondor
Ok, so the write up on this is pretty simple:

For the undershirt, I used a navy broadcloth and a pattern I had for dart-less long-sleeved dress shirt. I made it less curvy on the sides and looser, as an 8-year-old boy is less curvy than I, and just lengthened it. Instead of leaving a plackett for buttons, and all that goodstuff I just modified it to be a pull-over shirt. I modified it further bu making it a splitneck, and I didn't sew any of the center or side seams boyond mid-hip, so it would be easier for him to move and more accuracy-oriented when it came to Aragorn's costume. I found this REALLY great meshy metallic fabric that was really light and worked great for armor, even if it was a bit thin. I drafted a pattern for that and made the sleeves go about to the elbow. He had a pair of black sweatpants and my other brother had a pair of boot-like shoe covers from another costume, so that helped me in the time-constraint department. My crowning achievement was the jerkin! I had been passed down a TON of fabric from my Gram, and it had this great textured faux-suede. I just folded it in half, made center front and back splits and voila - a jerkin fit for a man of Gondor! I found a design of the White Tree online, and traced it onto the front. I painted gold trim onto the neck and center seams, and then painted the White Tree. The cloak was just a simple rectangle of navy panne velvet pinned onto the shoulders. All in all, I was very proud of this outfit!
