By CarTake A627(M) to junction with M62. At roundabout take 3rd exit (sign posted Leeds). In 35 miles at junction 30 (A642) leave motorway and at roundabout take 1st exit (A642 York). In 1.2 miles (Oulton) take 1st exit off roundabout and at next one take 3rd exit (A642). Follow A642 for 7.4 miles to junction with A1. Over crossroad's and turn left to join A1(N). Follow A1/A1(M) north for 82 miles and 0.7 miles after Washington Services take left hand lanes for Gateshead and Newcastle. In 0.3 miles motorway ends and becomes A1 again. In 4.8 miles at junction with A184 branch left to join A184. In 1.1 miles take right hand lanes to join A189. Go over Redheugh Bridge then in 0.2 miles at lights straight on (for City(North)) then in 0.2 miles at lights straight on into one way (for City(North), Ashington). At ensuing T-junction turn left then at next traffic lights turn right. In 0.1 miles at roundabout take 1st exit. St James' Park is 0.9 miles ahead on right.
